As previously reported in our last blog post on September 11, Surrender to Stillness is the second of three new prints being introduced to Mr. Mirabelli’s Collection of Limited Editions. This print is a reproduction of the original oil on canvas, measuring 30 x 40 inches, featured and sold in 2018 at The Lily Pad Gallery in Watch Hill, RI.
Surrender to Stillness was inspired by one of Victor’s many childhood memories capturing the rural structures and landscapes he observed as he walked and biked through the countryside. This painting doesn’t represent a specific site; it mimics feelings awakened. The setting is sincere and substantive; it’s pure emotion.
In this specific image, the palette reflects a dreamy, soft stillness that accompanies perhaps the joy of an early spring season. The structures are abstracted but clearly represent a collection of buildings: a farm house with small shed or barn. The shapes are blocked in color establishing a permanence. The artist’s objective is to engage the viewer to step outside his or her world and experience something new or different or reminiscent of something familiar.
